Manchester United target Vidal linked with Real Madrid

Vidal could be on his way out of Juve

Manchester United’s hopes of landing Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal could be scuppered by Real Madrid.

Reports from Spain this morning claim the Chilean is Carlo Ancelotti’s chief transfer target this summer. Real were keen on Vidal last summer as part of a player-exchange deal involving striker Gonzalo Higuain. Vidal himself scuppered the move saying he was happy in Italy. Now, Marca newspaper – which has close ties to the Bernabeu – says Real could be in again.

Vidal has also been linked with Manchester United although there were claims earlier this week that he was set to sign a new deal with Juventus worth £200,000 a week. That’s despite signing an £80,000-a-week contract (AFTER tax) earlier this season.

His views on Real appear to have changed. After ruling out a move last summer he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero after the two sides met in the Champions League at the Bernabeu earlier this season that he would like to play for the club in the future. “We’ll have to see what happens,” he said.

At present a move to Spain looks more likely than a move to Old Trafford.
