Manchester City are the Biggest Club in Manchester, Claims Pellegrini
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini claims his side are now the biggest club in Manchester with local rivals Manchester United slipping up in the Premier League this season.
City take on Barcelona in their Champions League round of 16 clash at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, but asked at the pre-match press conference whether a victory over Barca would see his side eclipse United he said his side has already done that.
“The biggest thing is City now,” said Pellegrini although he added that he could not ignore United’s success in recent years.
“We as a club managed to win many titles and we are fighting for three years and what is important is the club has the patience to build up a team.
“It’s a good test [the match with Barcelona]. It’s important. We can beat Barcelona and maybe in the next round you can have defeat. This club is trying to develop those areas. So far we have a good season and we must finish that way.
“One or our targets is to continue in the Champions League, knowing we play against the most important club in the world.
“When you play against Barca you always must consider important things but the most important thing is to continue being the same team you see every week in Premier League, to continue having the same style of play and the personality.”
